What To Expect From Your DJ Site

DJ Website Designer What To Expect From Your Site & Me

I'll tell you this as honestly as possible, because even though I want and need your business, I do not wish to make you think you'll get something more than you actually will. I always strive for a long term relationship instead of just a quick sale. I provide services which far exceed the minimal investments my clients have made.

  • A) No Guarantee My Services Will Help You. This is simply advertising. No guarantee, warranty, or refunds. I accept no liability for anything, from the traffic you get to the type of gigs you book or anything which may result in a loss. On the flip side, I don't ask you to give me anything more than our originally negotiated design cost agreement (typically $499). If your site is successful and you're busy booking gigs you can know that with each new booking, you owe me nothing... A thanks will do just fine. How many bookings would you need to cover the cost of my services? Not many. How many bookings can you make from the investment? Unlimited ROI is possible and I have had success helping others in the past with similar objectives and have been in this field since 2002. I take what I know and apply that to help you gain exposure to potential clients using search engines to find services like you offer.
  • B) I Have No Control Over Search Engines... I have been blessed that my sites have been indexed, cataloged and ranked as relevant for on-topic key phrases and seem to remain fairly constant year after year. I build search engine friendly pages that follow guidelines provided by search engines for proper design. This ensures they will not be penalized for black-hat SEO tactics like many sites use, but whose life spans are short. My sites generally increase in traffic and popularity year after year. I suspect that yours will too, but again... There is no guarantee. A search engine could make one minor change to it's algorithm and a site can drop 100 spots, or perhaps disappear altogether.
  • C) Copyrights, Piracy & Site Ownership... This is a deep subject, but I'll make it as clear and simple as possible: The website I will be creating for you and the domain name which might be used with it, does not automatically make it your property. Any website domain names will NEVER belong to you. They are "registered" to you and must be renewed periodically through the domain registrar, or you will forfeit the domain. The website I create for you will typically be based on a custom design by me, or based on a template. If a template is used, (often the case), unless you purchase exclusive rights to the intellectual property, (the web-design and elements used in the design), they legally belong to their respective owners. Unless the content was originally owned and provided by you, (i.e.; photos, artwork, ad-copy, slogans, logos, etc), you cannot claim these elements as yours, duplicate, copy, sell, or use in other promotional materials, websites and designs without express permission from the original owner(s). This is very basic info and I'm no lawyer, so if you have questions about intellectual and property copyrights, I suggest seeking that info from a qualified source like a trademark lawyer, or federal patent and copyright office. *** IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER *** I do NOT research your business name, any of the images or the ad copy you might supply to me for inclusion in your site! Therefore BEFORE you request that I include it, please check the USPTO.gov site to make sure that your stuff is not in conflict with anyone else's. That includes your business name or DBA, your domain name, slogans, verbiage, etc. Also check for copyrights on any artwork or photos you supply me with. If a lawyer issues me a Cease and Desist, I WILL REMOVE INFRINGEMENTS without your notice or consent.
  • D) I Do Not Accept Any Liability... The web project can help bring traffic to your site, or produce phone calls and emails, but it's no guarantee that you will sell your services and book jobs. This is entirely up to you and your interpersonal skills. I offer some free advice regarding simple selling techniques which I encourage you to read.
  • E) You Are Responsible For Your Site's Success. Any Internet marketing efforts are ongoing. The web is not a "set it and forget it" method of advertising. Once your site is up and running, you will want to continue to find ways to promote your DJ Business and your website. I have some recommendations on How To Promote Your DJ Service Online and there are a multitude of places to promote yourself and website, from your local chamber of commerce to wedding directories. Pay Per Click Campaigns and external marketing print media is another option. Social networking on forums and blogs is yet another. Obviously I am just a phone call or email away so if you need help in the future I will be happy to help. Most of my clients continue to use me for additional web related projects, modifications and updates.
  • F) No Cry-Babies allowed. Remember, it was YOU who contacted me because I am the Internet Marketer, not you. While your website will be built with your ideals in mind and based on your goals and input, the end result must be a nice site that I would be proud to show any other designer and which I know will get the job done for you. By no means am I an ass about this, but let me illustrate this: Unless you're unlucky enough to have a Bridezilla, or Groomzilla, your clients probably do not tell you how to be a DJ. You're the expert and the professional so they let you do your disc jockeying without much fuss. You don't want your clients telling you how to hook up equipment or coaching you on what music to play when, nor do I expect you to tell me how to design websites. I can typically avoid these unfruitful situations by the first contact, but I have misjudged a few folks over the years who presented themselves as friendly and easy going, so I help them, and then later they turn into Bridezilla's evil counterpart: DJZilla. There's nothing more irritating than a demanding client who believes under no uncertain terms that they are the expert - not you. When their whining goes without response or action, they may claim they did not get what they paid for, (some imaginary thing they think they were entitled to) and place credit card charge backs, or start contacting your clients to incite some personal vendetta, etc... In reality they usually have received more than what they paid for, but believe that no policy applies to them. Don't get the wrong idea, I love all my clients, but if you know you're this type of person, please... Go back to googling for a web designer or build your own site. I don't want the aggravation and in the event that you become unusually difficult to deal with, I reserve the right to discontinue my services to you and if I am hosting your site, it will be turned off. I will never sabotage your site, but I may refuse to do future business with an usually tough client if we cannot reconcile these differences.
